Which Kākahu represents me?

Each Kākāhu embodies a meaning, expressed through its unique Kākāno (colour). The chosen Kākāno carries a story connected to te Atua, which has a connection specific to your generation.

Roopu Shirt Navigators have given each shirt a distinct colour to symbolize your Generation.

 

Each colour is Representative of a Māori Atua.

 

The attributes, stories, and domains of influence of each Atua are used to express the unique characteristics, challenges, and purpose of each Generation.

1st Gen

Foundation Generation

Represented by the Māori God:
Tāne-mahuta
God of the Forest and Birds

Tāne-mahuta, the creator and guardian of the forest and birds, represents the foundational role of the oldest generation, nurturing the family's legacy and connection to nature

e.g Uncle Mac, Aunty Liz, Aunty Bella etc

2nd Gen

The Parents Generation

Representing the Māori God:
Tangaroa
God of the Sea.

Symbolizing the vast connections and flow of life, the parents' generation can be symbolized by the sea's wisdom and nurturing nature, guiding the next generations

e.g Shannon, Kawe, Hellen, King etc

3rd Gen

Millennial  Generation

Represented by the Māori God:
Tāwhirimātea
God of weather, wind, and storms.

Representing change, movement, and adaptability, this Generation can be symbolized by the dynamic, ever-evolving nature of life in the modern world

e.g Kyneval, Verne, Chejaan etc

4th Gen

Gen Z 

Represented by the Māori God:
Rongomātāne
God of Peace and Agriculture

Rongomātāne is the God of Peace, Crops, and cultivated food, particularly the kūmara (sweet potato). This generation, while youthful, focuses on growth, sustainability, and working together for a better future

e.g Vallant, Callum, Koda etc

Generation Alpha

Represented by the Māori God:
Haumia-tiketike
God of Wild Food, Fern Root, and Uncultivated Plants

Represents potential and new beginnings. This generation is seen as the wild and untouched force of the family, ready to grow and create something new

Representing the Māori God:
Rūaumoko (Rūamoko)
God of Volcanoes and Earthquakes

Some Māori believe that earthquakes are caused by the god Rūaumoko, and the rumblings that disturb the land are made by him as he moves. Representing our other half and how they keep us on our toes.
